Pilates is a beautifully crafted exercise program that was created by Joseph H. Pilates well over 80 years ago. The Pilates method of body conditioning is a unique system of stretching and strengthening exercises, combining aspects of dance, gymnastics, kinesthetics, and yoga, and can be performed on a mat, Reformer, Cadillac, Chair or Barrel. The equipment was designed by Joseph himself, and there are well over 2500 exercises to choose from. It has gained in popularity over the past decade and has remained in the forefront of many health and wellness centres all over the city of Toronto.
